Histochemical Studies for the Effect of Ginseng on the Hepatic Enzyme Activities in Refed Rat after Starvation

Abstract
In order to determine the effect of ginseng on the hepatic function the author observed, histochemically, changes enzymatic activity of this organ for acid phosphatase, alkaline phosphatase, adenosine triphosphatase cytochrome oxidase and lactate dehydrogenase in refed rats after starvation for 6 days.
The following result were obtained;
1. Activities of acid phosphatase and alkaline phosphatase in starved group did not demonstrate a visible changes in comparison to that normal group.
2. Activities adenosine triphosphatase and cytochrome oxidase in the group refed with the basal diet were recovered in 5th day but the group refed basal diet and ginseng extract were recovered 3rd day.
3. Activity of lactate dehydrogenase in the group refed with basal diet was recovered in 4th day but the group refed with basal diet and ginseng extract was recovered in 3rd day.
